"Urban Echoes" Acrylic and Mixed Media Markers on Reclaimed Cardboard Loop Box by Cristina Clementel
This work began with a cardboard box, not a blank canvas. The structure of the packaging itself became the architecture of the city: three sections stacked vertically, each one dictating its own character. The top panel, cooler and bluer, rises like the upper floors of a skyline. The centre was built around four circular impressions left by the cans it once carried, their exact positions determining the four arches of the central facade. The bottom, warmer in orange and terracotta, anchors the composition like the lower streets of a dense neighbourhood.
Every line follows the logic of the material. The stratification of the city mirrors the stratification of the box itself. The panels are deliberately misaligned, the irregular silhouette of the work mirroring the unplanned organic growth of a real city.
A city found inside a box, waiting to be seen.
