JBOY started this work with a question: what happened to all the Hulkamaniacs? Nobody ever discussed what would happen when the people doing the running wild reached their eighties.
In the painting, an elderly woman leans on a zimmer frame in a proud, bright yellow Hulkamania shirt. As JBOY puts it, together they document “the inevitable collision between classic wrestling pop culture and lower back pain”. She still looks ready to ask what you’re going to do when Hulkamania runs wild on you. Just give her a minute to get over there.
Part of the Wrestle Room exhibition at Atom Gallery, 10 October – 31 October 2026.
Artist: JBOY
Medium: Acrylic painting
Dimensions: 40 x 60 x 5 cm
